Human Resource Management This module on human resource management reinforced some things that I already learned about human resource management, but more importantly, it introduced changes that have occurred since my last exposure to this topic. The technical advances in using the Internet as a resource to source for employees is a major change since my last exposure to this topic. Another area of change is the trend for outsourcing of employees. I managed an outsourced company that was hired to perform service on Xerox equipment in a specified territory. The type of work was just as the textbook described a repetitive type task. This concept allows the company to outsource a particular function. My involvement in outsourcing involved managing a service team of 30 individuals who worked for an independent agency. The agency had a contract t o perform service on a specified territory and customer base. I learned that I could not manage the individuals, but I had to manage to the contractual agreement signed by the agency manager. Other alternatives to outsourcing are contingency workers, which reduces the overhead expenses for companies. Contingency workers can be used for short-term spikes in the workflow and not cause an increased expense in hiring and paying benefits. The concept of employee leasing is becoming increasingly prevalent in the work place. The idea did not exist in my work environment ten years ago. The process of recruitment is both external and internal to the company. The internal process described in the textbook is similar to what I have been involved in.. We use an electronic means to display all available positions on an internal web site. The jobs can be searched by organization or by state and city location. Then Juliet refuses to marry Paris Capulet becomes very aggressive towards Juliet, he hurls abuse at her, threatens her with violence and also threatens to disown her. The prolific trumpeter who became a world ambassador for jazz, Louis Armstrong learned to blow on a bugle in reform school when he was 13. His intuitive genius for improvisation changed the course of jazz, but after the 1940s mugging dominated his performances and he had his greatest success as a pop singer. Louis Daniel Armstrong popularly known as Satchmo and Pops was born on July 4, 1900, in New Orleans, the birthplace of American jazz. His father, Willie, was a day laborer in a turpentine plant, and his mother, Mayann (Mary Ann), worked chiefly as a domestic. His grandparents had been slaves. Dippermouth (his original nickname) picked up small change by singing and dancing with other street urchins in the notorious Storyville district. After Louis celebrated New Year's Eve by firing a .38 pistol that belonged to one of his "stepfathers," he was sent to the Colored Waifs' Home for Boys in 1913. There he tried several instruments until he found his voice in the cornet, and, though self-taught, he became the leader of the school band. Armstrong was 18 when he replaced his idol, King Oliver, in Kid Ory's Brownskin Band. A mellophonist taught him how to read music when he joined a Mississippi riverboat band. In 1922 he went to Chicago to play second cornet with Oliver's Creole Jazz Band. His time with Fletcher Henderson's big band in New York City in 1924 expanded his music beyond the traditional New Orleans style. Soon he switched to the trumpet on theater dates because of its brighter sound and flashier look. The first band built in the image of one personality was the one Armstrong organized in Chicago in 1925. With his phenomenal tone, instrumental range, stamina, and stunning gift for melodic variations, he was able to turn jazz from ensemble music to a solo art. His Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings were jazz landmarks. He introduced scat on 'Heebie Jeebies', supposedly because he dropped the sheet music. The voice was first used as an instrument on 'Skid-Dat-De-Dat', also the first tune built completely on breaks. With 'Cornet Chop Suey' he had created the stop-time solo break. Another Armstrong innovation was high-register playing in jazz, and his sandpaper voice influenced more conventional jazz singing. Armstrong's contagious humor and flamboyant style made him an ideal goodwill ambassador for American music. In 1933, during his first European tour, he dedicated a hot trumpet break to King George VI with "This one's for you, Rex!" As his non-jazz audience grew, he appeared frequently on television and made more than 35 film shorts or movies, including 'High Society' and 'Hello Dolly!'. Satchmo classics include 'West End Blues', 'Weather Bird', 'Tight Like This', 'Hotter than That', and 'S.O.L. Blues'. Among his best-selling records were 'Mack the Knife' and 'C'est si bon'. We can see these differences in everything we do and create. Interestedly we have a variety of views and concepts in very little or insignificant aspects of our daily living. Members of the same family can have a personal interpretation of what they considered best for society. For this reason we had to find ways to resolve conflict and manage situations, in order to live a more productive life with the less conflict possible. For my assignment I contacted five persons three of them were of Hispanic background. One of them was a white person and the other one an African American. I showed them the picture and all were kind to accept to help me with the assignment. They all had similar descriptions and also very different words to qualify the work to be done. They all agreed that the picture portrait a male, of middle age from African American background. The first traits that came to people’s perception were those that had to do with the physical appearance of the male in the photograph. Those traits that describe best the person were those who define the individual with his color of skin, his age, his complexity, his gender; then they describe, what was the perception they had; due to what the individual was doing on the ground. And finally they tried to guess what he was doing in that position. What they saw was determinant to make a description of the man in the picture. When we gather some information about a person; or a situation whatsoever, one can formulate a Listening and Perception 3 ight or wrong comment or decision of the individual or situation we encounter. A lot of people have a tendency of talking too quick to make a statement without analyzing the situation; and at this point the process of communication becomes unclear or lead to misunderstandings. We need to be careful when we are exercising our judgment. We need to analyze all situations before making a statement. Once the words have come out is Impossible to take them back. Most of interpersonal relations get affected for what we say or what we see. We must be prudent before stating our views. What it was particularly interesting is how different perceptions people have in trying to interpret a situation: in the picture when looking at the man sitting on the ground; some people describe him as relax, waiting for somebody or the bus, while others picture him as being homeless without hope disconnected from reality. I can say that they made this choices because they saw somebody in jeans and t-shirt and sneakers the way he dress; plus the attitude of being alone looking to the side make people think he had no home no food, and was moving his head around randomly with no hurry. We can all of us be wrong at least we know for sure what and why he was doing at that precise moment. Certainly the only one who can really depict his situation without fault is the individual himself. In my view gender was the reason why my observers made their choice, I noticed that the women were looking differently the picture; than the men. Women looked more at the traits of this person while the men looked more at what he was doing. The women observers look at this man age and complexity, while the men found him more like without future or lost. I am glad of the outcome of this exercise because by choosing two women and three men I found the similarities and differences in the two genders. But the one trait that it was common to most of them was relax, and observing, this could be to the fact that the picture shows him seated, an d looking at something or somebody. The different perceptions I found in this process by my friends could alter the reality of who is really this person, and what is he doing at this particular moment when the shot was taken. How after analyzing this picture can we come out with an accurate description of this person that could be anyone of us trying to get a little warm on a beautiful spring day? Situations like this one arise every day in our society, with our friend and with our family. I remember the case of a teenager being shot by a police officer because the police thought the teen had a gun. There are many cases of mistaken identity where innocent people had to pay for somebody else mistake. We can also recall the jealous husband who killed his wife because she was talking to a stranger. It is imperative that we use a fair assessment of any circumstance before we can come out with a conclusion. To me is good that we come out with different ideas about somebody or a situation; why? Because if I am wrong I could see what is the real truth. It is sane to know that we can be wrong about something or someone. We need to give the benefit of the doubt to anybody regardless of what we think. Diversified nature of escalated data along with its composite aspects and multiple autonomous sources is a major issue in data mining that leads to the need for the development of real life applications. The motivation behind this study is offered in the following paragraphs: The first issue the thesis is going to address is that of evolving data, which represents a challenge for classification. The effective and efficient methods are needed by the growing and dynamic data streams, which are considerably different from the static data mining methods. The concept drift and infinite length are considered to be the well-studied features of data streams. Across data stream mining, to address the infinite length [Fan04] and concept-drift[Cha07][Kol05] [Wan03], diverse methods have been suggested in the literature. Yet, the data streams have two another challenging characteristics, known as, feature-evolution and concept-evolution, which are ignored by the present methods.
